soul searching at CES 2019 Last weekend was CES 2019, an annual convention in Las Vegas that I didnt even know about until a couple of my friends told me to register to go to it with them. It was described to me as a showroom-type thing where companies set up booths to display the latest gadgets they are marketing/will take to market soon. Neato. The convention isnt necessarily open to the public (I think you actually need business credentials or media affiliation), but I was able to get in on the last day for free (!) by registering as a student. I was there for hours and didnt see even a quarter of the displays. The Las Vegas Convention Center is huge, and every open space was packed with people. Some of the exhibitors even had their own specially designed buildings outside of the exhibition halls. Google pulled a very EC stunt in setting up a roller coaster inside their building, and they also built a gumball machine that dispensed products ranging from Google beanies to Google Homes (the device not an actual Google house) to anyone willing to wait two hours in the line (not me). I also saw multiple massage chair displays some skates reminiscent of a hoverboard immersion cooling arcade games tons of people a speaker with a built-in screen (???) Waluigi (wah) a TV whose audio was transmitted through the screen as demonstrated by some metal balls a TV that rolls up a phone with ten-point discrimination even under water a bread machine the United States Postal Service a ceiling of screens 3D-printed dentures and dental molds spinning LEDs that made images look 3D and a tractor that made me reconsider a career in Big Farm-a. It felt like an adult science fair. Plenty of people have recapped the cool stuff thats coming out of this convention, so I really dont feel like discussing AI and 5G and autonomous devices here. I had a sort of spiritual reaction to being surrounded by shiny new consumer electronics. It struck me how so many of these products represented the hard labor of the people who made them, but that this human element was being suppressed in favor of talking up the product. (I know thats the whole point of a technology showcase but let me FEEL!) Im a junior in college, which means Im starting (hahahahaha) to worry about future employment. Ive often thought that grad school is the only possible next step for a bio major who wants to be able to live comfortably. Recently, Ive decided to take on a second major (in Comparative Media Studies) just because the classes Ive taken in that field have been so much more intriguing to me than my bio classes. I dont know if grad school is what I want anymore. I look at my resume, I look at myself, I look at the displays at CES and wonder what it means to be marketable. Am I marketable, or at the very least are my skills marketable? Do I have skills? Why am I worrying about this when Im only 21? Most people reading this are probably highschoolers. As much as I dont want you to relate to this, Ive got a feeling you might. Youve filled out application after application attempting to market yourself to these schools who have never met you. Its hard to feel good enough. Im at MIT, and I still dont feel good enough. Im working on it. Buuuuuut Im also working on making my display booth interesting to ensure other people see me. Personal Narrative At Plastics And Hand Surgical Associates
For my clinicals at Plastics and Hand Surgical Associates last Tuesday I was able to perform a variety of tasks and meet another one of the other working physicians. The doctor I met was Dr. Maddali. Dr. Maddali is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is on the teaching faculty of the Lahey Clinic and serves as Clinical Instructor at Maine Medical Center for Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Maddali graduated magna cum laude from Brown University and received his MD with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from Cornell University Medical College. Suffice to say he, along with all of the other doctors I ve meet are very impressive physicians. Jenny, was one of the nurses I was with Tuesday. Question: Discuss about the Educational and Catholic Charities Agencies. Answer: Introduction: Seven important principles have been proposed by Catholic Charities agencies in USA with an aim to create a world which would be free from any sort of human discrimination and disgrace to Gods creations. This harshness and insensitivity on small children questioned the existence of mankind where humankind is said to be the most flourished species on earth due to compassion, honesty and love for each other. The agencies have a strong belief that every individual being on earth is sacred and therefore their dignity should be declared as the foundation of the moral vision of the society. By the statement, it is meant that the dignity and choices of every human being (whether they are autistic or similar other traits) should be respected and cared for as they also have the same right to enjoy their presence on earth as do normal human beings (Massaro, 2015). Jake and Cooper were admitted to a school which demanded to possess a special system of education for disabled children. However, it was seen that the arrangements were very poor as there were no special education system fixed for them. When Jake and cooper were not being able to be communicated due to his speech inefficiency, the children were left aside while the class was conducted without monitoring their needs. The y did not provide the academic education that they promised to deliver. Jakes dignity was very much humiliated when proclaimed expert of the institution decide to send him to Time out. By this term, they locked Jake in a dark room which only had one window to provide light for. This activity of the school against the dignity and choice of a 11-year-old should be criticised strictly. They should have maintained the mentioned principle of the Catholic agencies societies in their approach to give an evidence of humanity in their service delivery. The next principle that can be applied in Jake and Coopers case is Rights and Responsibilities. By this principle, the Catholic agencies wanted to state that by protecting dignity and human right of each and every person of the society, we can build up a society that can be loved and nurtured by humankind. It is the duty of the humankind to meet their responsibilities by harbouring feelings that are unique to mankind only. Therefore, every person has the right to life and all those activities that are required to maintain human decency (Condit, 2016). In case of Jake and Cooper, it the responsibility of all the human beings of the society to be compassionate towards them because that the trait that only human being harbour for their fellow mates. The school should have maintained the responsibility to treat both then children according to their requirement in one to one basis so that their wishes and dignity could have been maintained. The Australian Education Union have joined hand with Stephanie Gotlib to modify the condition of education achievement for the disabled and funds have been increased from $1.2 to $1.3. However, conditions have still been poor and meets of the autistic children in education has not been met. Therefore, it also becomes the responsibility of the society to understand their needs and discomfort with their situations and make them feel socially included. Another principle that is also applicable for Jake and Coopers case is the Care for Gods Creation. This principle states that one should provide love and respect to Gods creation through their faith and dedication in all the creations of the Almighty. All the challenges that the human race face today should be treated and handled with moral and ethical dimensions which will lead to flourishment of the humankind (Thompson, 2015). Society influences his tastes, cultures, behaviour, personality, capability and love for humankind. An individual human can never survive alone. He needs to establish bonds with the society and communities to make his life happy and contented. Miles Davis This book, written by Miles Davis, is the autobiography tht he wrote a few years before he died. In this book I found how he first became interested in jazz. It also explains how he became one of the best jazz players of all time. Miles was born in Alton, Illinois in 1926 and grew up in eastern St. Louis. He learned how to play trumpet while in high school on the trumpet that his father gave to him for his 13th birthday. He was a bog fan of jazz and said that the thing that made up his mind to be a musician was wheh he first heard Billy Eckstines band with Dizzy Gillespie on trumpet, and Charlie parker playing the sax. He then moved to New York looking for Charlie Parker and to study classical trumpet at Juilliard School of music. Aftera while parkers drug problem began to take over his life, and this also affected Davis. Davis took some time toget over that, and by the late 50s he was a much bigger star than he had been before due to some of his recent recordings. In 1969, Davis started to record more electronic music, which was the start of the azz-Rock. Later on, when he came out with the albums A Tribute to Jack Johnson, and On the Corner, fans were dissapointed, and thought it was a terrible portrayal of the jazz they knew. Miles then sort of dissapeared from the view of the public eye between 1975 and 1981, but even when he came back, he wasn't as into playing anymore as he had used to be. He played again a couple times before he died in 1991 at 65 years old. As for the author's description of the book, it was all first person, because he wrote the book himself with the help of Quincy Troupe. My conclusion to this book strenghtens what I think about musicians. I don't understand why lots of famous people and especially musicians experiment with drugs. I would think that if their life is going well why mess with it. Another thing this book made me think about is that Miles is still a very widely known artist. Before reading this book I hadnt known that he died in 1991, I thought that him and his music was something that died long ago and only older people listened to. That is wrong though. I enjoyed this book and didn't realize before how much work it takes to live forever in history.

The simple pleasures in life are what are going to go down the drain. The beautiful forests and meadows will all either be gone or destroyed. I feel active about this topic because I am a hunter and I play a large role in being outside and being in nature. If there are 571 million people living in this country, there will be no hunting left because there will be no forests or ponds to hunt. I personally cannot imagine what this country would be like if the population doubled. I can only think of bad things. Hundreds of thousands would be unemployed, the cities would be a mess, and the countryâ â¬â¢s resources would all be gone such as drinking water. I think the country is capable of holding 571 million because of all the space out west, but it would not be that easy. Most people would not want to live out in the ââ¬Å"boonies.â⬠They would crowd the metropolitan areas. If our country had 571 million people, the education system would be almost impossible to work because of so many children everywhere, the US would be in so much debt that it would never be able to pay it off, and I think it would be hard to control all the people. I believe that the biggest threat to country would be the over building, every building that we use today for people would have to double. We would need more prisons, houses, schools, office buildings, etc. I honestly do not believe there is a solution to the issue of over population. In his second meditation, he argued that the mind takes the liberty of supposing everything to be nonexistent of which it has the least doubt of existing. However, during the process, as mind is the thing which is thinking the whole situation, so it must exist itself .This is among one of the greatest use of our mind (Descartes. 1641). Descartes formally presented a theory of mind-body dualism in which he argues that our body is composed of different organs & parts & our mind has no connection with it. As in his first meditation, he says that sensory organs are doubtful thus the body itself has no particular reliability. This absolutely does not mean that in this perspective, a human does not exist or is insignificant. But as compared to mind, body is nothing but a combination of solid joints. The concept of being deceived by someone or convinced on any point directly relates through mind, not from body. Hence for such things to happen, I must exist & I am a not a rational animal but a thinking thing that doubts, understands, affirms, denies, is willing, is unwilling, and also imagines and has sensory perceptions (Descartes. 1641). Evolution of 3G Technology 3G: Sophistication Guaranteed Telecommunications evolution is undergoing a rapid vamp to the future; the evolution is almost exponential, from the analog types to 2Gs and then finally the latest mobile innovation the 3G technology. The 3G techie is the latest on-stream line of communications which offers advanced voice communications and high-speed data connectivity, with wireless Internet access, mobile data applications and high multimedia content. The 3G model embodies true sophistication in terms of mobile technology but why was this phrase used to describe it? To answer this an investigation of the roots and processes of 3G would be required. Mobile technologys conception started from the analogs. Analog networks, or first generation wireless technology has been introduced in the mid 1980s in America, a technology that was incredibly region-specific in character. As the demand for mobile communications grew, the digital 2G emerged in the 1990s flanking the undercapacity of the 1G systems. Second generation mobile systems operate on the following fundamentals: TDMA, (IS-54 and IS-136), GSM and CDMA IS-95 or cdmaOne. GSM, used worldwide, is a packet-switched technology that transports speed theoretically of up to 115 kbit/s. Unfortunately, these technologies were found to be incompatible with each other, and many mobile techies were incredibly delimited to a specific region or country. They are also fabricated mainly for voice data and slow transmission. Rapid changes in user expectation and communication needs, sought the need for improvement. The variation as opposed to the standardization cannot really be resolved since there are economic forces or stakeholders who have vested interest in favor of that particular standard. WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) refers to broadband digital radio communications of Internet, multimedia messaging, video streaming and other capacity-demanding applications and is the preferred 3G network in Europe, Asia, Japan, United States and Africa. Conversion of input data (e.g. image, video, voice) to a narrowband digital radio signal tagged with a specific marker is the method for multi-rate transmission of the network. CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is the leading 3g network as of current providing over a hundred million consumers worldwide. It was selected as the industry standard by the ITU (International Telecommunications Union)..CDMA technology is a combination of two networking assets: CDMA2000 1X and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO. The capacity and performance of voice and data services of CDMA2000 1X is twice that of the former CDMA systems and surpasses that of TDMA and GSM. Peak data rates are reached to about 153 kbps without intervening voice capacity. It also offers longer standby times. Its high compatibility with the former CDMA facilitate upgrade of mobile technology to current. CDMA2000 1xEV-DO is a data-optimized version of CDMA2000 providing peak rates of more than 2 Mbps, with an average output of over 700 kbps. This fast technology is parallel to DSL service and can support video streaming data and large byte file downloads. The stipulation for CDMA2000 1xEV-DO is to delivers maximum number of data (Megabyte) at the lowest cost possible. Being the selected technology, CDMA offers the best packages in mobile technology. Describe a Personal Experience Where Your Race or Ethnicity Made a Difference Essay
Race and ethnicity has influenced my life in many ways and up until now I am living with the discriminations that comes with not belonging to a certain group of people. Worldwide racial discrimination race is common and even more common here in the United States. People make choices subconsciously based on the racial group they belong to. Individuals have preference of people of their own ethnicity over people of a different ethnic group. I personally have experienced some sort of racial discrimination and am sure every one else is a victim of racial discrimination just as much as I am. I believe if every student, staff or faculty that will be asked their opinions about racial inequality, they will gladly oppose racism. But some of us consciously and hypocritically practice racial discrimination, which I find really inappropriate. My recent experience was in regards to a scholarship opening recently in the school. This scholarship I believe was sponsored by the staff and faculties of the school to support students who do not get any help from the government and have a good academic standing. I was just done with my classes for the day one evening and was about to leave campus when I received a phone call from a friend who told me about the scholarship. At the time I was with another friend and I told her about it and we both went to the office of the scholarship coordinator for the application. Unfortunately the office was closed. We then decided to come back the next day as early as we could. My friend couldnââ¬â¢t make it the morning and she asked me to get her the application if am able to come in in the morning. I went through the trouble of leaving home real early the next day just so I can go get the application and when I got there around 8:30am, the coordinator was still not there. I decided to wait anticipating she will be coming in by 9:00am, but I waited up until 9:30 and she still didnââ¬â¢t show up. so I decided to leave since I had an exam that day at 10am. I returned again after my exam at 12pm, now she had a note on her door saying she will be in her office at 1pm. I went back to the library to study for my next exam and I made sure I was back at exactly 1pm. She still wasnââ¬â¢t back; I decided to wait a little while at the door. While waiting, she came and I requested for the application and she told me she didnââ¬â¢t have the application and she gave me her card to make an appointment with her to come in for the application and that she cannot meet up until after the 29th which is suppose to be the dead line of the application. Believe it or not, I stupidly left the office thinking that is the same procedure everyone is going to have to go through. An hour later, my friend who is not the same race as the coordinator but looks like she is of her race, went in and was given the application. Some times it is just too heart breaking to know after meeting all the requirements of something, you still do not really meet the requirement just because of your skin color. We talk about how racial discrimination is inappropriate, but we still practice racial favoritism anyways. Like in the case of this scholarship, they could have just written on the requirements, you have to belong to a certain race to qualify, but it is not right to do that. I felt so depressed realizing in the very end that I wasted all my time and energy for nothing because I do not actually meet the real requirements. I do not belong to the ideal racial group. I believe day in and day out; other students just like me have to deal with situations like this. Base on this experience and some other experiences from my pass, my race and ethnicity had influence the kind of choices I make. If we continue making choices to satisfy our selves by making preference of people of our type rather than the qualified people, it will be hard to make progresses. I believe every one deserve equal opportunities regardless of their race and that is the only way we as individuals and the community on a whole can be well developed and successful.
